A Shiny Penny

A shiny head
Cast in copper
Lies on the ground
"It's good luck to pick it up" says my friend
I argue and disagree
But she has me pick it up anyways
Because of this:
I rode 5 rides with him
I talked to him almost the entire day
I got stuck on a ride together
I spent a whole day with him.
"A very productive day" my friend calls it
But then I look over at him
He fell asleep on the bus next to another girl
Her head resting on his shoulder
And his head on hers
The green monster comes out
And I can’t help but think,
Did the penny really work?
