The Longer I Hold On
You’ve shed tears over me, well, now it’s my turn
I’ve caused you hurtful pain, so it’s time I feel your hurt
I can’t tell you that I’m crying, or even upset at all
Can’t bring myself to tell you why I’m really ready to fall
That’s why I’m writing this poem, my dear,
Because paper helps me face my fears
I don’t believe anything you’ve ever said,
But the lies and truth are confused in my head
I just want to pretend because forgetting is too hard,
But, the longer I hold on, the more you break my heart
