But Still
I see his hair
Every day
On other men,
But still.
Just a glance
I think it’s him
I know it’s not,
But still.
I stiffen up
I bare my teeth
I know it’s rude,
But still.
My hackles up
Focused on
The man he’s not,
But still.
I see his eyes
That evil smile
I know he’s gone,
But still.
I could forget
All that he’s done
The pain he’s caused,
But still
I recollect
The tears she shed
He can’t be good,
But still.
I think of him
Most every day
I hate him most,
But still.
