The Thing About Memories
the thing about memories is
they’re the past
you can’t go back
and yet
you can’t stop yourself from
thinking about it
all the time
it’s kind of annoying
isn’t it
this constant nagging
of what was
and can never be
ever again
“if only…”
“remember when…”
remember all you wished for
remember what took place
remember the looks on their faces
remember yours
you can remember
but you can’t go back
no matter how long you dwell
on those memories
they will always be just that
memories
and the thing about memories is
they’re the past
