Yesterday
Will they hate me forever or just for today?
Will our lives keep on twisting apart till they fray?
And of all of the words that I know how to say,
Are there any to keep them from flying away?
And in shadows where nothing is put on display
And everything’s colored in all shades of grey.
It‘s really quite easy to fall far astray
Forgetting the price that you’ll then have to pay.
And no matter their feelings, for them I will pray
For they is the ones I could never betray
And as they will hate me more, should I stay
I’ll watch them in silence from far, far away.
So from now till forever, and till Judgment Day
When God and his angels, our actions will weigh
I hope that they know that despite our decay
There still is the way that they felt yesterday.
