I Wish I Was Six
Sometimes I close my eyes
and I wish I was six again,
when I would awake
from a nightmare
and cry out
for the parents I thought I knew,
who would come to comfort me,
groggy and heavy-lidded
And when I awoke the next morning,
I would remember nothing
of the dream,
which is why I yearn
to be six once more,
because I know
that when I wake up tomorrow,
my nightmare
will not have ended.
