Nostalgic
My sweet,
I have pondered this dreary thought in my heart
What if one day we should so happen to part,
In the most final of ways
I have marked the seconds, minutes, days
Couldn’t be much longer…
As our hearts grow fonder, stronger
That agonizing thought plays like a recording in the pit of my soul.
I love you dearly
I hold you closer to my heart than some of my family
And of course my heart yearns for those three words
I want to hear so much
Yet they oft’ amount to very little
I love you.
I feel that is an understatement, my sweet
My heart certainly can say for itself
What I feel is purer than any love I’ve felt for anyone
Outside my family, no one else comes close.
I still harbor the heavy heartedness from last night’s good bye
My lips still eager to kiss thee
My arms, more than willing to embrace thee
My mind grows uneasy each moment we spend apart.
My day lolls on without an end in sight
I try to stay focused with all my might
But inside I’m shaking
I can't wait to listen to those whispering eyes
Though often a disguise for what you store inside
I learned to read between the wavelengths
It gives off a far better prize
But time can't move slow enough when were together
And it’s time for our good byes
The one planted kiss,
All I have to remember you by
As life continues on
My memories of you never subside
