Carriages to College
Goodbye to the sunrise on the beach.
Goodbye to the way things used to be,
the bikes in October,
the sun in December,
teaching me to drive those dirt roads,
I’ll always remember.
Goodbye to the afternoon back up
under the I-95 bridge.
Goodbye to the palm trees found deep in the woods,
It’s happening now,
what I never thought would.
Goodbye blacktop, scalding in the afternoon sun.
Goodbye days
of careless fun.
Goodbye fully stocked,
And conveniently placed fridge,
Goodbye to the times of being a kid.
