There
This place for us is a barrier
This house for us a bond
We stand on our toes
And gaze over
To the great big adventure beyond
And suddenly ‘here’ is not our calling
And suddenly ‘there’ is where we belong
We’ve stopped living ‘here’
We’ve slowed loving ‘here’
We’ve sped right past ‘here’
In our minds going far beyond
God has promised us ‘there’
God has called us ‘there’
Someday we’ll reach ‘there’
But for now God has left us ‘here’
He called us ‘here’ first
He has plans ‘here’ now
‘There’ is coming sometime
‘Here’ is where we are
So, living ‘here’ is crucial
Living ‘there’ is in vain
Walking dead is pointless
Wishing different our bane
We long so for the future
That we forget today
We whine of daily living
Forgetting to daily live
What if we’re missing out?
What if lives could be saved?
We might think that we’re through ‘here’
We may want to be done
But God has called us to ‘here’
Our race is still being run
You don’t want to come to church
You don’t want to preach
We don’t want to stay ‘here’
We don’t want to leave
God saw fit to keep us ‘here’
Together let’s stop living ‘there’.
