Cordis
Down blue veins I travel inside
your flat iris looking for
hardened words.
My eyes are searching for
broken elbows, red skin
iron heart,
fist.
Anything to show marks
till I remember
words don’t leave scars.
Your face will stay perfect
untouched, unmarred
until I raise my hand.
and leave you
smashed, fallen, distorted
in my beautiful rage.
Instead, I am kneeling
gravel leaving
indentations in my palms,
watching ants crawl
into raw nerve.
