the ambulance drove by us today.
its wails piercing the sky
everyone stopped
stopped moving.
for that split second
time stopped

when

for that split second
the world stopped rushing
rushing from love
rushing to a cubicle
rushing towards death.
all was at peace
to find this hidden dimension
a place where time didn’t exist,
now that was the secret.

you
but of course it doesn’t last.
chapped lips brushing their cheeks
love made in haste,
keep this place alive.
you need to bring new life,
someone to believe the brilliance
of stagnancy
someone to believe the lies.
the surreal grandeur of
cessation.

rush
a child
to bask in the intricacies of life.
where sweet, sweet notes
dance on the tongue
promises of a sunny day
or at least a cherry popsicle on a rainy day.

you

but no,
you must say your goodbyes
start your watches again
at least until there’s an accident on the 405,
until the ambulance drives by.

crash.
