The First Day of School
I hate the hour before school,
When you are still tired
And your sheets are still warm.
But you drag yourself out of bed,
To the sound of your buzzing alarm clock.
You try to find something not wrinkled to wear,
In your still dark and messy room.
When you finally arrive at the kitchen table,
Your family awaits you tired and blue.
While you pour the cold milk, for your stale cereal,
You glance at the clock, and see the time.
So you rush out the door, and you forgot notebook,
But you’re already late, on your first day of school.
