laying outside
on the pavement
in the grass
under the sun

clear blue skies
clouds rolling by
finding the shapes
like children again

singing
talking
laughing
…and silence.

SLAM!
a car door
people arriving
time to get up

the moment is gone
but the peace
and the friendship
last forever.

The author's comments:
After reading the play Our Town, I had an English assignment to write a poem about the simple joys of just living life. This poem was for that assignment, based on a moment of just laying outside looking at the clouds with a couple friends in the only five minutes of spare time we had that day.
