the shrunken sweater

My life is a sweater that fit me, once.
But now its sleeves are torn and fraying.
Shrunken and faded from many trips through the wash.
The feeling, once warm and proverbial
now just feels itchy.
The more I think about it, the more
I want to take this sweater off.

I know exactly what you mean about the exhausted-life-metaphor thing and I'm glad that you don't think of mine that way. I also liked that you posted a real, thought provoking comment instead of saying something like "this roxx yur so gud at writin wordzzz" (sadly I've actually seen this very comment before. Seriously.). So yeah, you're pretty cool. Thanks for commenting!

I've heard many a metaphor about life, and have started to grow weary of them. Yet I found this to be original and unique. It's well written, indeed. Unfortunately for us, the sweater can be removed. But it can't be replaced so easily, m' dear.
