"All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story... in which every chapter is better than the one before."

Awake? No!
Fall back to sleep, back to sleep.
You must think of it, remember
What you’re losing even now.
Look, the castle and the prince
And his bride clad in white.
Were you at the wedding?
Or were you just omniscient?
No, don’t think.
If you do it’ll slip away.
Prince, bride, castle of stone.
But don’t remember too hard
Or you’ll never sleep.
Castle, castle… castle…
You must think of more than the castle!
No, back to sleep, to sleep.
Recall when the people applauded,
When the prince appeared suddenly?
You clapped too. So you were there.
No! Stop thinking, sleep, sleep.
Bride, wearing white with a long veil
Of silver.
Come, return to me, you must!
You were so lovely, so alluring.
You cannot leave me now.
They hadn’t taken the vows yet.
Sleep, sleep. You must sleep.
Let the dream return.

I think a lot of people wake up from dreams, and wish that they could get back into them somehow. This poem was an attempt to capture those thoughts and emotions as one tries to fall back into the dream.
