there is always
that one girl
in a field of others
she’s dressed in all black
trying to hide
hoping no one gets close
she cowers away, staring at the grass
as girls beside her
chat away
assuming every whispered word
is true
in this group
the truth is always forbidden
lies consume their lives
lies of this girl
staring at the ground
hiding from herself
wondering when this sorrow will pass
