Green
Green, do you envy
Red’s ability to love?
Do you wish people could
Touch you and feel
Content and healthy?
Hear you and think
“Oh, what great encouragement”?
Don’t forget that you
Gave me an excuse to not go to school.
You gave nature life and allowed me
to taste the delicious joy of nutrition.
You gave us motivation to reuse
And allowed us to breath fresh air.
You’re importance has not yet
Been given enough credit.
So green, hold your head up high.
The next time I barf in the toilet
I will say “I feel brown and blue.”
From now on every time
I feel confident and vibrant
I’ll think of you, green.
