The Music in Life
In the sky so high I'm soaring, dancing on the winds
It's all so bright clear and beautiful singing around and through me
The notes happy and light lifting me higher and higher
The music is fading
My smile remains fierce and untamed my arms outstreched
It's gone.
Before I can draw breath I'm falling
Falling hard and fast
The ground parts when I hit it
All is in darkness
Pain is stabbing me I did not die
Clouds cover the sun and the music begins again
It is deep and raw, sharp and heavy pulling me into my bed of earth
The power of it shakes my bones
It makes me want to cast off my broken body and sleep forever more.
I close my eyes to die but the pain is sharper now not less
My eyes reopen knowing that I cannot die yet
I begin to test my body
It is thourghly broken but it can move
Slowly I rise
The music pounds on deep and full
Pain pulls at me
It beats in time with my pulse throughout my limbs
I stand
I stretch finding the aches and breaks and bending them
I climb using hands and feet
Roots, rocks and dirt rain down on me but with each tug my sky is closer
My body shakes and before I reach the green grass I fall back
Sleep claims my exhausted body
I do not dream
When I wake I try again and fail
And again
And again
And again
Till one day I do not fail
Grass is what meets my questing fingers
And then it is under my feet agian
The sun shines faintly past the clouds
I am no longer flying but I am no longer falling either
Sleeping in the sun I smile again
The music is light once more.
