Rescue Me,
You’ve shattered my life,
Crushed my dreams.
You’ve scarred my skin,
With a knife that is not a knife.
A knife is swift and clean,
Easy to fix.
But your words cut me deeper,
Then any dagger could.
I’m watching you sleep,
Cursing your dreams.
I’d love to show you how it feels,
To lay awake, hoping for a release.
I’ll find a way out,
A way to escape.
Somewhere quiet,
Somewhere safe.
And you’ll never find me,
I’ll hide myself away.
I’ll get out of your dungeon
And into the light.
I’ll find me a prince,
Someone to hold me.
And they’ll show me what love is,
And how to love myself.
You can not keep me here,
Because I will fight for freedom.
I might not have fought you before,
But now I will.
You won’t hold me down,
Cutting me with your words.
Because now I have a dagger,
My own self hope.
You will not see me leave,
Because you will be in the dark.
Like you’ve keep me,
For far too long.
I am free.
