Old Wine
Though my thoughts be heavy,
I’ll show my heart as light.
Just to keep you laughing,
To keep your smile bright.
As the day is ending,
We’ll say our last goodbyes.
I’ll flash one more smile
As I keep living this lie.
But as I’m getting nearer,
My heart getting heavier,
Feeling pressure on my chest
As I’m opening my door.
The night, it is aging.
Just like that old wine,
That I will drink steady
Just to pass the time.
The time I’ve spent alone,
Searching for some bliss,
But you would never know
That something, something’s
Gone amiss.
Because by persistence
To keep you convinced
You’ll never see a tear roll
Or a frown slip.
But if you were to see,
I’ll assure I’m okay,
But you won’t see me
The very next day.
Because the night is aging
Just like that old wine,
That I will drink steady
Just to pass the time.
