That Summer
I can still see you that summer
See the last night you were here
It was so long ago
It was over a year
I will always remember that summer
In fact, it’s always on my mind
It was an indescribable summer
It was a special kind
I remember the first day
I saw your lying face
I saw it from the start
But It didn’t slow our pace
You changed my life that summer
Made me a stronger woman
I only have you to thank
For making me a better human
You showed me no one can be trusted
Not even your best friend
I only trust myself now
For myself I will fend
I wish I could go back to that summer
Do it over again
But I can’t do that
So a new life I will begin
It’s the last day of this summer
And school starts tomorrow
Where I’ll see you again
Where I will feel no sorrow
You’ll look at me
And I’ll look at you
But it won’t matter
Because now I know what’s true
You didn’t love me
The way you said you did
I can finally see
All the lies you hid
Behind your beautiful face
Behind your beautiful eyes
Now I’m alone here
With all the stars in the skies
It’s finally over now
Finally I can see
I’m not blind anymore
The way I used to be
I wish you’d go away now
Somewhere far away
So I could start a new life
Start a new day
But on second thought
You don’t have to leave
It doesn’t matter where you are
For happiness I’ll receive
So stay, I don’t care
Stay as long as you please
Because I feel nothing for you
Not even a breeze
