I may know you too well my friend.
You bring me tranquility, melancholy, and ambiance.
You’re longer than others, but you can fit more than just one.
You present opportunity and optimism.

Softer than a cloud gamboling in the night sky,
your sense of shape baffles the human eye.
Rectangles, squares, circles or ovals, we cannot decide which to pick.
though soft, you are as heavy as a zeppelin.

Your arms are the backbone for my pleasure.
I can rest comfortably on a pillow of silk.
I relax and dream until I close my eyes.
Yes you make me do this, because I always feel so divine.

Why can’t people stand?
See the true beauty in what you do.
You look mangled, mutilated, and marred.
Water marks, wrinkles and tears show on the outside.

I see you everyday at garage sales.
Memories sure can last a life-time.
The day the gang went over to watch the Super Bowl,
Or the day all of the teenagers got a hangover.
You were always there.
Maybe if people got rid of you,
We all wouldn’t be such “couch potatoes.”
