A Painful Friend
The clock strikes the final hour
As I drown in this black gloom.
The strands of Time grow weaker,
Then snap, never to resume.
My heavy heart grows colder,
Yet it burns inside my chest.
I close my eyes to blindness
But receive no peace of rest.
As if like is forever over,
I wish to never feel again.
Because to love another dearly
Is to welcome heartbreak as your friend.
