Tick, Tock, Toe!
I believe someone famous once said,
"who really knows what time it is?"
for time passes without consideration.
It's there and then it's not.
Now you see it, now you don't.
Each second is the same, yet so different.
Like each breath that we take.
It's new, but only for so long then we move on to the next.
Ready because we've done it all before,
but scared that the experience
will be far from the last,
or possibly just that:the last.
The very end of it all.
And all we have left are memories held in the mind of others.
Solomon didn't say life was useless for nothing, it's true.
Materials and politics vanish along with our presence.
So time is only ticking away
for the sake of our sanity,
giving us the reassurance that there is more of it.
Who really knows what time is?
Nobody can say when the world will end,
or what tomorrow may bring;
for tomorrow doesn't exist
and yesterday is only a shadow on a cloudy day.
