All around me rain pours,
But I still see the sun.
And outside these walls,
Rainbows are on the horizon.
I can see the end,
Of this storm raging above me,
I can see the clouds,
Edged with a silver lining
As the sun sets
In a perfect sea of blue
At a distance.
But we’re not quite there.
Please don’t despair.
I’ll play a few chords
To a song you might know,
And before you can blink,
We’ll be drowning in love.
We’ll find strength to go on.
Even with thunder rolling overhead
And water gushing,
Rushing over bare feet,
Even drenched,
We can dance in the street,
For there is a love
Greater than this storm,
Even when we can’t see.
We’re safe in His arms,
So let the rain fall.

The author's comments:
We were having a worship service at my church one Wednesday and it was storming outside. What was interesting is that we were watching a video titled "Rain" and it was about God's faithfulness through troubles and "storms" of our lives. After the video finished the storm was nearly over, but it was was still raining over our church, but just down the road it was sunny and beautiful and there were two rainbows arching over the church side by side. I was so moved that I came home and wrote this.

"Don't cry that it's over, smile because it has happened."

wow, i really like this. i love the way you ended the poem: "so let the rain fall." it sounds like acceptance and dismisal at the same time. it takes a true author to create such an emotion!!

check out some of my work, too if you'd like. great job on this. keep writing!(:

I love this poem so much. You conveyed the message with such skill, and you are completely right. 'Let nothing frighten you. Let nothing disturb you. All things pass away; God never changes.'
