The Monster in the Mirror
The monster in the mirror
is the stuff of nightmares.
angry, hateful, disgusted
glaring at me
red eyes peering through
my blue ones.
My monsters sees
the other me,
or maybe the true one.
The ugly fat girl
disgusting thighs
arms that jiggle
a belly roll.
The monster is in my head
from the moment I awake
taunting me
starving me.
The scale tells the truth
something even the monster
can't change.
A 5'8, 120 pound girl
shivers in the bathroom.
It's a constant struggle against
my monster
She tries to move in
make herself at home
in my head.
Maybe, the monster isn't in the mirror
maybe, my monster is
the mirror
