Happiness
Happiness is like a butterfly
floating, fluttering without weight
gliding in the warm summer breeze.
a fair-weather friend, it
prefers sunny afternoons in fragrant gardens
vanishing when a storm rumbles by,
flying away when the cold winds blow.
like a butterfly, it’s
always sought for, pursued
with a net in hand and
a jar to confine.
Happiness
floats above your head
makes you look Up
teases you, flitting its delicate wings.
when you have finally caught it,
you marvel at its brightness
and feel like you lack nothing in life.
After hours of enjoying your catch
you realize that you have to let it go
so you watch it spread its powder-coated wings and fly.
hoping it will return soon
and knowing that it will.
