My Freeplace
The long grass sways
It tickles my feet
The sky is clear
The air is sweet
The sun is bright
The sand pits deep
The treasures hidden
But not too secrete
This is a moment
From my toddler mind
I’m sure it is rusty
But it’s not hard to find
The grass is now short
And covered with homes
I had never have thought
I wouldn’t be alone
The image becomes
More blurred in my head
But the brightness still lingers
Even though it is dead
And though the sadness is weaker
Than it was just before
As each day passes
The hole could have held more
And as the moon rises
The frost covers the snow
The image still haunts me
With it’s powerful glow
The melancholy of present
The joy in my past
The content feeling I miss
And I regret that it’s passed
