Grating
Don’t be deceived,
Under that exterior,
She'll cut you to pieces.
She can always walk by
And your heart breaks for her.
You want her love, her approval.
Her sad smile makes you want to take her pain.
But when she's tearing you in two,
Your heart screams her name.
And you realize,
The one you love the most can cut you up the most.
When I was little,
I dreamed that we would actually be happy together.
The childhood scrapes of the sidewalk molded into reality.
Like the first sting of adulthood,
I realized with no tears that happiness between us was impossible.
Unbreakable,
That’s who I am now.
Stare at the point and watch it blur in front of you,
Stare long enough and the tears melt away.
It's hard wearing a mask around the one you're supposed to love.
