Eyeliner MAG

I might wear skirts
that are too short and
I overdo the makeup a bit
(it smears throughout the day, making me look tired and restless)
My emotions are opaque at best,
My words cryptic and abstract
I wear my intellect as brightly
as the red lipstick I used to douse my
lips with.
I don't wear that much makeup anymore,
especially the foundation that was always
a shade off. My face feels lighter now, I shed off old skin,
layer by layer.
But I still use eyeliner that is sometimes too thick,
or too dark, but it has never been so heavy
that it washes out
the person underneath

The author's comments:
A person who is defined by their clothes or belongings has definitely built a lovely nest for themselves, haven't they? This is for the people who are still themselves, no matter what skin they try on next.
