No Sanctuary
Crisp, clean, cold air biting my face
as I walk, walk, walk.
My destination isn’t that far,
but it seems like forever.
I finally get there
and there is more energy in my step.
I spring through the door seeking sanctuary,
but it is not there.
I look around for it but the smell hits me.

It knows it has me,
and so do I.

I do but now the thought of sanctuary is a whispered dream,
a distant memory.
I have not found my sanctuary.
What I have found is
undeniable acceptance
and a loss of hope….
