Shadows
So I sit and wait,
apprehensive and expectant;
My turn in the limelight is nearing.
Her shadow fallowed her through her troubles,
that shadow we shared.
That shadow whose darkness I hid in for too long.
Once, i tried to step out.
Screaming "Here I am! Look at me!!"
The shadow took notice and followed.
To you it seemed like a while,
to me it wasn't long enough to make up for the lost time.
I tried to stay in the limelight,
keep my shadow,
but in the end, i was nudged back into the darkness.
Hidden in your shadow,
I craved the sunlight, the warmth.
Stepping into the sun,
confident and strong,
my heart was shattered.
I was still in your shadow,
for it had become to big to escape.
No longer do i wish to have the company of this shadow.
Keep it.
I will walk this world of sunlight
And lean on nothing that fades with the setting sun.
