Regret
Regret
I never realized that when you
Spoke those unkind words
The wall raised between us
Would not crumble before my sanity
Things happened that I will always regret
Things haunting me I will never forget
No matter how much I pray
I cannot erase what’s written in stone
I begin to resent myself
I wish I could rip my soul from its hollow shell
I will never forgive myself; apologies cannot fathom
I never meant to make you cry
Even though I gave you my heart
Beating in your palm
You crushed it by your own will, along with my soul
I never wished to hurt you
I never thought I’d say those words
