Better?
Where we better off before,
not knowing,
not caring,
one way or another?
Was it better when we loved without a second thought?
Accepted everything without a rebuttle?
Was it easier to be ourselves when we followed everyone else,
or is it now,
that we have minds that work,
function,
and churn with hate and pain?
Was it easier to accept the world and its evil when we were young and
didn't understand much of the words?
Or now,
that I have tasted bitter cruelties
and heartfelt memories-
was it easier-
were we better off-
when we didn't try so hard,
but loved without a second thought?
