A true friend
Is a bird
Sitting on her nest.
Never leaving,
Always watching,
Forever caring.

A true friend
Is a piece of glass
Sometimes broken,
But can always be
Put back together.

A true friend
Is a slide.
The ride down is a blast.
All you have to do
Is climb up the steps
And you can do it again.

A true friend
Is the sun
Lying beneath the horizon
However not permanent,
Always comes back for you
When needed.

A true friend
Is a heart.
Irreplaceable
Untouchable
Never-ending.

A true friend
Is a song.
Begins slow and dramatic
Intensity increases
Meaning forever.
But a true friend’s song
Never ends.

A true friend
Is many things.
A true friend
Is you.

I'm in love with this!  The metaphors are excellent, and I agree wholeheartedly with them.

This poem also has a really good flow to it :)

This is one of my favorite poems you've ever written. It flows with absolutely brilliant metaphors.

I loved how you likened a friend to a slide! Ha ha, I could feel the childlike glee. But then you moved to the sun and a song, I felt a warm peacefulness.

I could easily see myself printing this out and putting it up on my wall to read again and again. Wonderful job!
