Hold Tight, Let Go
It starts
As a single thought,
An image,
A memory
I keep it close
I cling to the idea
While it flows away from me
Like water in a river
Hold Tight, let Go
I clutch the pages
In sweaty hands
While I wait for a chance
And for the strength
I am eager to hear what my friends say
But I am afraid to let the Words
Rush from my lips
Like a River over the Falls
Hold Tight, let Go
I stand before a sea of faces
Some familiar
But none I know
I feel panic sweeping me away
With the current
The lights seem to dim
And my world slowly spins
As I fight to keep standing
Hold Tight, let Go
I want to run,
To fly with all the power and speed
Of the River
I want to take the Plunge
Like the river over the Falls
I want the Current
To sweep me away
But still I fight
Hold Tight, Let Go
I turn to go,
But something holds me in place
I look to the crowd
And your eyes find mine
While I stand there,
Pulling me out of the river,
Out of the racing current,
And into the warm look in your eyes
Hold Tight, let Go
You give me something to hold onto
The reason why I am here,
The method behind my madness
Your eyes hold mine
Keeping me from seeing the River
As it flows harmlessly away
Taking with it the fear
That bound me to the water
Hold Tight, let Go

I don't need a rose. I want a daisy you picked for my hair. I don't want some fancy box of chocolate. I want a pink frosting cookie you made just for me. Lets skip the upscale restaraunt and have a picnic in the park.
