snarling jaws of shame
snap at porcelain ankles
willing a crack to surface
thousands join together
to sing with cold nostalgia
until her utopian glass sphere
shatters


The author's comments:
I wrote this poem to highlight the stress and anxiety young people feel today to be the best. I experience many moments where I have been compared to others and have felt inferior.
