I Love You Now
I love you now,
My black rose.
I didn't then.
A face down-turned,
A smile that hid from me.
Evidence, of the bitterest heart.
Brought together,
Through choices forced,
And not our own.
A ceremony,
An I do,
With icy hearts,
We were one.
Cold you were,
And cold our house,
In need of a smile, a laugh--
As the Sahara thirsts,
For a drip
Of a drop.
Your eyes:
Beady. Gray. Cold.
Piercing even my soul,
A dagger you yield,
Made of stone.
Love so lost--
Now found.
Your pale distant face,
Hawk-eyes still and blank.
The blood on my hands,
My knife in your chest.
Yes--
I love you now.
