"A writer should write with his eyes and painter paint with his ears." ~Gertrude Stein~

I stand in a lone room lead astray and so lost
So full of confusion can’t even pay the cost
To the world I seem as an ordinary girl
Can’t take that thought no more my mind is in a whirl
Cover myself with a mask to protect of the world’s screams
It looks as if that’s all that happens or that’s what it seems
Sick and tired of being alone all the time
Want to run away and just say goodbye
The stress is smuggling me can’t find a place to breathe
No help to be found no one hears my cry or plead
I’m a puppet of the world I do shows from 8 to 3
My attitude is set, but everything’s way off key
Can anybody break me free? The world is such a liar!
Somebody save me please! My soul is set on fire!
I’m a prisoner locked away and heavily guarded
Loosing my mind, must think that I’m retarded
Growing blind every day can’t see in front of me
No one to guide my path, but everybody’s blind to be
Time is past, my soul is still in flames
No one but the world to blame
Is anyone or thing around when I’m in a spiral
Of coarse not ‘cause you running like I’m the viral
The insecurity of all can’t be torn
‘Cause that’s how we’re born
Can you imagine if the world was free?
Then maybe we all could see
All the insecurities
Now you can’t blame me
You see how twisted the turns you lay
Talkin’ about some, “Kneel down...OBEY!”
I’m no, “Worship the world” type chick
I make my own rules I’ll take that hit
Being locked up made me realize
That I’m a jewel, the number one prize
A jewel as such as me should be out free
Not locked in chains or on puppeteer strings
Open your eyes, can you see my scars?
Especially the knife going through my heart
Guess you never know who you keep prisoner
Until you notice they’re now the prosecutor
The judge of our lives claims you guilty
Guilty of dictation, keeping my life filthy
Now the dictator becomes the dictee
All because you nearly destroyed me
Shoes on the other foot, you reap what you sew
Imma be the bigger person and let you go
“Thank you! Thank you!” spills out of your mouth,
but I don’t know what you’re talking about
A clean slate, like this never happened
No more shouting that, “I’m the captain!”
Let this trial lay to rest and never be awakened
Don’t let it wake and be so mistaken
The beast shall never rise, never in my eyes
‘Cause not one rule will ever apply
So stand clear and let your souls run free
Don’t forget this is the final plea
Live your life to your standards, don’t dictate no more
‘Cause you’ll be stricken down to the floor
Last but not least, always pay your respects
‘Cause you’ll never know who’ll be the leader of the rest

I had a difficult time with a class I loved because of the people in it and I wrote this to ease myself from telling them straight up and possibly being kicked out of the class.

We're all just looking for attention, to be discovered overnight. We're all frustrated by the popular ones that claim the limelight before they fall to pieces. So many of us are stuck under the radar--what makes me different? You decide!
