We Are Nothing
We are nothing,
And yet we are everything;
Insignificant,
And yet invaluable.
I am only a face in the crowd
To a stranger,
Not even a grain
In the sands of time.
I bloom for less than an hour
Before I crumble to dust;
Only a few will taste my nectar.
But I am the breath of life
To someone:
The earth and the sky
For one sweet, fleeting moment.
And if only a few
Ever smell my perfume,
Then maybe my hour
Can be years for those few.
