Incongruous
Incongruous
That’s what we are
Best friends, worst enemies
He doesn’t know
Do I?
I hate him, loathe him, cant stand beside him
He makes me laugh, smile, stands beside me in hard times
Incongruous
That’s what we are
I’m complimented, applauded
A friendly pat on the back
But beside him, I’m nothing
Beside him, I don’t exist
To others
I’m the hero’s best friend
Done everything he’s done
Been everywhere he’s been
But I’m not noticed, not seen, cast off
When I’m by his side
His side
I am the invisible sidekick
I have courage if you need saving
I have fire if you need light
I am here
But I am not needed
Because he is my best friend
Unknowingly, he takes all the glory
Steals all the fame
Yet when he looks at me
He sees a best friend
And never second best
Incongruous
That’s what we are
