As a Child Watches a Black Widow
perception, as it scurried across the floor
curiosity, for the red spot atop the bewitching black
determination, to crawl on four as it scuttled on eight
wonder, as it defied gravity floor to ceiling
fascination, as near-invisible thread became a home – and trap!
awe, as it sat in its throne, waiting, watching
confusion, as the newcomer was there, then stuck
fear, as the acrobat became a monster
