The Devil and I
The Devil came in the mirror of mine
And he said, “Where'd you go,
My Dear Child?”
“I'm sorry, father.”
The fire burns the house
My life goes up in flames
“I'm growing my own wings...”
He doesn't want to let me go.
“My heart is fixing up...”
I had to say to him
But darkness closes in
On The Devil and I.
“I can't do this...
I'm too broken...”
“There's no way out...
My Dark Angel!”
“God treats me well...”
I say.
“You have no free will!”
“You stole me away!”
The fire burns the house
My life goes up in flames
“I'm having your wings...
Beauty.” He doesn't want to let me go
“I'm to sick to stay...”
He won't let go...of the past.
“You're my revenge...
“You're my treasure...don't leave me...”
“Don't kill me...again...
I'm too free...
From you, that is...
To care...”
The fire burns the house
My life goes up in flames
“I'm flying away now, father.”
He has to let me go.
