I never will forget that place
That labyrinth where all shame did hide

I never will forget his face
Scarred not by soil of the flesh
But by a careworn contempt; bound and chained to the walls of his soul

Like a work of art that is misunderstood
His ingenuity is simply cast aside
By those who can't see the rose for the thorn

His dextrous hands flowed with ease
Softly caressing the black & white
Creating hymn of poise & promise
That only sobering calm of night could coax to take flight

And as I gaze upon him now
With toils of lust overshadowed with hate

I realize that when light goes blind
When compassion ceases its ebb & flow

Longing can fill its gaping time slot
Devour all else before it can grow
