As I sat, next to the window –
Watching the world go by –
I saw for the first time the little flakes
Of white, that came drifting from the clouds.
They floated down and blanketed everything –
From the dirt to the proud trees.
I saw them for the first time –
Sitting next to my sleeping brother and my mom –
With my dad driving ahead of us –
Leading the way to the camp.
We had been planning the trip a long time –
But we never planned for this.
Neither my brother nor I had ever
Witnessed snowfall.
But even as I watched the small white flakes –
Their falling stopped as the clouds withheld
Their treasures from us.
