Promise
I will survive
I will live through the misery
The hatred
And life itself.
I will move with the wind
And twist when the road curves
But through it all, I will not lose it all.
Unlike you,
I will ponder for tomorrow’s brightness
While you drown in sorrow and despair
I will survive
I will be me when you try to be them
I will think when you look foolish
Yes, Foolish I say!
You will be foolish and I will stride
I will rise and dream big
Oh, Yes,
I will.
And you,
You will watch.
Your eyes will wander to meet mine,
But I’ll be by the golden gates.
Instead, you will tremble as I speak
And hide in my shadow.
You will be black
When I’m white
Satanic but a pure cherub,
I will survive and live through the misery you brought upon me.
