The Child
-The Child
When the child is born, is she aware?
Love’s price: a mile high, who cares?
Innocence is brutally murdered.
Strife and Pain creeps in.
How does she bear?
Painfully she creates the mask.
The face she wears.
Sarcasm and Hurt hides carefully,
Anger and Laughter treads lightly.
She smiles, she frowns, she stares.
Her identity is very confusing indeed.
The mask once strong and firm,
Grows thin and feeble.
Love and Anger battle.
Death and Life’s swords clash.
No rest is allowed.
Oh God, watch over her.
Keep her safe and sound.
Give her lessons on happiness.
Brown eyes age too quickly.
Life made her mature, not wise.
Always she mourns for sweet Innocence.
Let me ask you again.
Listen carefully this time.
When the child is born, is she aware?
Love’s price: a mile high, who cares?
