"you know that place between asleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? thats where i love you peter pan, thats where i'll be waiting" Tinkerbell

Hustle and bustle amongst the town,
Last minute shoppers, shopping around.
“How about this?”, “But, I wanted that!”
“I’m sorry sir, but, we ran out last Sat”
“Please could I order - before Christmas day?”
“Today’s Christmas eve!” there’s just NO WAY!

Jingling bells and stamping of feet,
Rubbing their hands to make some heat,
Impatient phones are buzzing and playing,
Ice on the roads, traffic delaying.
Hundreds of layers yet still turning blue,
Shivering and shaking with snivels too!

Bubbling laughter, smiles set in stone,
“My mother’s so difficult” many do moan.
Swapping of presents, so beautifully wrapped
Endless food that Waitrose has zapped.
Cinnamon, holly, berries and wine,
Blazing fires scented with pine.

Pop songs blaring from large chain stores,
Festive carols sung by choirs outdoors.
Sparkling lights, so pretty and gay,
Twinkle in twilight, yet dull in the day.
Stressing and working, ‘it’s got to be right’
Hurry on faster ‘cuz Santa’s TONIGHT!

I worked in a bookshop and a pharmacy over christmas and this is just a couple of my observations. people become completely irrational over christmas and it's sad. Although exciting the real meaning of Christmas has been lost.

I really love this poem! It made me smile and laugh more than any of the others! Yet it still reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas. Thanks for the smiles!

Great observation and your rhyming is pleasant. I agree totally with how you feel.
