Boxes
I am a box
Boxes surround me
I sit next to them
I eat with them
I talk with them
I learn with them
Boxes are everywhere
They open themselves just enough
For me to have an idea
Perhaps a misguided idea
Of what they offer inside
It’s like a game
We test each other
By rattling, probing, giving
False hints or half truths
To hide what’s really
Inside our box
Sometimes we are
Surprised, disappointed, hurt
By what we find
But that’s all part of the game
There are a few who don’t play
They don’t ask questions
They don’t care if
Their box gets rattled, probed
And so they are left alone
I’m tired of the game
I’m tired of being a box
But I’m not good enough
To be a treasure chest
Golden on the inside
I can only
Step out of my box
Show all the other boxes
Who I am
On the inside
And hope
I am not alone

It's good to not share all your feelings and thoughts, but I feel you should utilize your box only when absolutely necessary.
