"Most people are other people. Their thoughts someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
-Oscar Wilde
(yes, I do note the irony in quoting this)

I want him to look at my eyes and say they belong to someone older
I want him to notice the tiny scares on my hands and ask how I got them
I want him to recognize the curve of my hip and the tilt of my lips
I want him to catch me when begin to manipulate
I want him to follow my train of though
I want him to discover secrets I didn’t even know about myself
I want him to remember to ask why my day was so bad
I want him to understand that I just can’t listen to him call me pretty
I want him to sense that deep down I am too kind, and that I have to hide it
I want him to feel it when I start to ache inside, and know to hold me tight
I want him to make me less alone in the world
I want him to need me like I need him

The author's comments:
Ever sense I was small my mom has told me about how, just before she met my father and the love of her life, she wrote a list. The list was the things she wanted out of a relationship, and out of a soul mate. Her list was very detailed, she would say "I want him to be generous, but not so generous that he gives everything away" This worked well for her because she knew exactly what she needed. I do not. This is as close to a list as I can get at the moment.
